What should I do if my accommodation was broken into or the key safe was compromised?
Police report: call the police (107) immediately and file a report. Request a reference number for insurance claims.
Documentation: photograph the damage, the broken lock/safe.
Change locks: have the lock replaced or change the code immediately.
Notify insurer: report the damage to your insurance company within 2–3 working days.
Notify platform: if there is an active booking, inform Airbnb or Booking.com.
Community alert: notify the building manager and nearby hosts — serial break-ins are often committed by organised groups.
