What accommodation classification do I need?
Accommodation classification is mandatory for the operating licence. The classification is carried out by MTMT (Hungarian Tourism Quality Certification Body) under Government Decree 40/2025 (effective from 16.03.2025). The classification is free of charge.

- Online self-assessment (~1 hour)
- On-site audit
- Result — typically 3–4 stars is the goal
Key criteria: mattress min. 13 cm thick, condition of bedding, bathroom hygiene (mould = failure!). The full process takes 6–8 weeks.
