Do I need a townscape notification in my district?
⚠️ DISTRICT VI: From 1 January 2026, a complete ban on short-term rentals is in effect in District VI (Terézváros). The Supreme Court confirmed the legality of the regulation in November 2025. Fines of several million HUF can be imposed for illegal rentals.
Townscape notification is mandatory in the following districts before applying for an operating permit:
- District V: architectural-technical documentation required (~100,000 HUF), max 5% of apartments in the building can be accommodation
- District VII (from 25.09.2025): townscape notification required, max 10% of apartments in the building can be accommodation (ground floor only). Condominium agreement required (Regulation 46/2025: 0 days without agreement).
Other districts currently do not require townscape notification.
