A common situation, especially with larger houses and weekend stays.
Prevention:
- Clearly state the maximum guest count and consequences of exceeding it (e.g. surcharge or cancellation) in your House Rules.
- Communicate politely that the actual guest count must be respected for safety and legal reasons (NTAK, fire safety).
If it has already happened:
- On Airbnb: request a surcharge via the Resolution Center, or in serious cases call Airbnb support who can authorise immediate cancellation.
- Document: if guests do not comply with the rules, keep notes for your review.
